The Senior Investment Manager will work closely with the Investment Director and the research function. They are primarily responsible for implementing tactical investment strategy to the client portfolios, working within the internal research framework

Personal profileLikely to be a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and have over 5 years’ experience within the Private Client investment management industry. Must be able to demonstrate experience of managing a large client bank (in excess of £100m FUM) on a primarily discretionary basis. The Senior Investment Manager will also sit on the Investment Committee and must be able to articulate investment market views succinctly (written and orally).

Key responsibilities

Client management

  • Responsible for the efficient portfolio management for a variety of client types and within a variety of structures
  • Ability to construct and evolve a diversified portfolio of investment across a variety of asset classes
  • Work with the Investment Director to ensure the specific needs of each client are being met by their investment strategy
  • Monitor and implement any actions points arising from a client meeting
  • Ensure all portfolio management and suitability reporting is undertaken compliantly
  • Communicate and meet with clients as and when required
  • To liaise with the dealing and corporate actions team as and when required, on behalf of the investment team
  • Ensure all operations affecting their clients are carried out in accordance within FCA rules and the internal investment management framework
  • Ensure clients are treated fairly by knowing the customer and giving suitable advice, providing and appropriate level of service and communicating clearly
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong IT skills, particularly of Microsoft Excel

Business development

  • Actively seek new business by developing a close network of professional intermediaries

Business support

  • Work with colleagues from all departments to develop and maintain business processes and ensure investment management within the internal framework specified
  • Meet the business’ organisation and regulatory responsibilities
